More Info:

On Air is a collection of rarely heard radio recordings from the Stones formative years. The songs including eight tracks the band have never recorded or released commercially, were originally broadcast on bygone UK shows such as Saturday Club, and Rhythm and Blues between 1963 and 1965. The tapes have gone through a process called “audio source separation”, making tracks like Come On, (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, and many more sound better than before. Deluxe CD features 32 classic tracks!

This double disc release is a bonanza for Rolling Stones fans.  The package showcases thirty-two tracks from the band’s very early period performed live on various BBC radio shows.  The time frame for all of the recordings is from 1963 to 1965.  The same time period where the band’s repertoire consisted of classic r&b and blues songs.  In fact, there are only 4 songs written by the Stones themselves!  The Stones loved those classic songs and their versions show their love and respect for those covers.  But the Stones also put their own distinctive musical stamp on the tracks.  Considering the age of the tracks, the sound quality is surprisingly great on the vast majority of the tracks.  Did I also mention that the fun quotient of “On Air” is extremely high – as it should be! - Ted Talks
